Divisibility Rule by 4
If the last 2 digits of a given number is divisible by 4 then we can say that the given number is divisible by 4.
Example : Is 244 divisible by 4?
Solution : Last 2 digits are 44. Now divide it by
4 (44 /4 = 11)
Means 244 is divisible by 4
Example : Is 171 divisible by 4?
Solution : Last 2 digits are 71. Now divide it by
4 (71 / 4 = 17.75)
Means 171 is not divisible by 4. Because 17.75 is
not a whole number.
Point to be noted : Number is divisible by 4 only if its last digit is even number. So don't check numbers ending with odd digits.
Let's have practice for Divisibility Rule by 4
Which of the following numbers are divisible by 4?
453436, 4520, 234148, 43426, 98656, 456785, 34254
Solution:
453436 - 36/4 = 9 Hence divisible by 4
4520 - 20/4 = 5 Hence divisible by 4
234148 - 48/4 = 12 Hence divisible by 4
43426 - 26/4 = 6.5 Hence not divisible by 4
98656 - 56/4 = 14 Hence divisible by 4
456785 - 85/4 = 21.25 Hence not divisible by 4 As last digit is odd number
34254 - 54/4 = 13.5 Hence not divisible by 4
I hope you get the point of divisibility rule by 4
Thanks
